Studenterhuset’s Film Club: Kingsman – The Secret Service
Studenterhuset’s Film Club presents a James Bond movie with more cursing!
Kingsman – The Secret Service is a hybrid masterpiece; a spy movie, parody, comedy, satire, and thriller; a film that leaves audiences saying, “ I did not expect this movie to be this good!”
A suave British secret agent (who’s definitely not James Bond) trains a young protégé (who is definitely not the next James Bond), supervised by an old authority figure (who’s definitely in the spy game), and helped by a gadget wizard (who’s definitely not Q), to fight a bald supervillain in a mountain lair.
The only way to convince yourself that you’re not watching an actual James Bond movie, is to constantly remind yourself that you’re not.
The Kingsmen. A secret agency for inviolate, rich aristocrats who answer to no one, kill anyone they think is a threat, and ask you to murder your own dog in order to join their ranks.
Watch them square off with an equally over-the-top bad guy in Richmond Valentine, a man hell-bent on stopping global warming with an equally over-the-top plan: giving away free EVIL SIM-cards that control people’s minds and are programmed to make everyone in the world kill each other. Great way to defeat global warming, no???
So strap in for all the gadgets, latent product placement, and the world-wide intrigue that you love about the Bond movies! … but with even more boring, snooty Britishness, such as extreme politeness, male fashion advice, and a really specific drinking order.
As tradition holds, our Wednesday-events will be combined with Studenterhuset’s Community Kitchen. Food for 30 DKK, and a free movie with popcorn. What’s not to like?!
Feel free to bring your own snacks/food, but you have to buy your drinks at the bar.
